I have been trying to read the bible with a yearly plan and I was seeing any improvement and not much understanding to the context it self. I knew that Bible gateway had this option, but never really had tried it. recently I started to listen to it while I try to follow along in my bible, and not only am I learning and understanding, but is also helping me learn to pronounce properly (my native language is Spanish). And now my 8 yr. old daughter who has been listening with me, is actually interested and asking questions about God's word. This is truly a blessing to us. Thank you. I am so busy that I have had a hard time sitting down and listening to God's word. Now - I love to listen to Max reading the scriptures. I just want to say that although I'd been acquainted with (Max McLean's) his wonderful reading style, I only recently really heard how he makes the Bible come alive. A friend let me have her mp3 Niv, as she'd gotten another... so, I got it from her-all on 4 mp3 cd's! I've been blind all my life, am an avid Braille reader, but have also paid attention to narrators of talking books . I'm a performing pianist/singer/sometimes songwriter. Above all, I'm a born-again Christian. And sometimes I have to travel to share my music and witness at various churches, schools and other places across the nation, much as Mr. McLean does. I've heard other Bible recordings, the late Alexander Scourby reading the King James Version, actor Marvin Miller, Efram Czimbalist Jr., and a few lesser knowns. I've even enjoyed the dramatic presentations of the KJV, Living and NIV as done by various groups. But Max McLean is truly tops. Just a quick note to say a very special thanks to you all at Listener's Bible and of course to thank Max for his beautiful, artistic and creative renditions. I used my 20% discount today and downloaded Pilgrim's Progress, I'm only a third of the way through but am enjoying it immensely. I work at home as an artist and have heaps of listening time. Your ministry is much appreciated! Max McLean reads the Bible in such a manner that we almost feel we are there back in time. When I listened to/read the book of Revelation, I could not stopin fact, I listened to the entire book in one daythis is not something I would have done on my own. I have to tell you what a huge help your listener's Bible is to me. I spend so much time in my car. I listen to the CDs. I don't get bogged down in passages, you just keep on reading to me and I get it done. I'm at Job. Just when I think the bible can't get more beautiful! I love this book. I've been studying for 3 years. I was brought up by Atheists. I'm learning in my 50's. I just had to thank you. It's just what I needed! God Bless you! For the past two years or so, drawn by the Spirit of God to immerse ourselves in His Word, my husband and I have been listening to the scriptures 24/7 and we use the Listener's Bible CD's and MP3's exclusively, after initially comparing a variety of audio recordings of the Bible. Immersing ourselves 24/7 in the Word with a special concentration in the New Testament, listening to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we have and continue to be transformed. Our understanding of "What is Truth" has dramatically changed as we listen over and over again to the truth of His Word. We have told many people about the Listener's Bible, as we share what God has been doing in our lives. As we talk with people, as it turns out that others, like us, all around the country and the world are also being drawn into a new relationship with God through Jesus Christ through listening to scripture around the clock. They too report they are experiencing a spiritual transformation by the power of the Word, like never before. I have been listening regularly while working or driving and I am thrilled almost to tears sometimes when I realize that I am receiving God's word at a time that is usually wasted on daydreaming.... I have recently started a regiment to read the entire Bible in a few months. I love listening to Max's vocalization of the NIV. It brings some extra expression and "color" to the verses I read. My children have about a 30 minute ride to and from school each day and I have been very concerned about the wasted time in the car. This morning I downloaded Philippians from your site. Your servant ministers this book in such a way, that I hungrily devour the strength that lies within. I bought the entire Listener's Bible both OT and NT in January of 2005 at a Canadian Bible Society bookstore in Calgary, Alberta. I listen to it usually hours every day. When I am eating a meal, 90% of the time I have it on. I am a long distance trucker so your Bible on CD is coming out of my truck CD player at many times throughout the day. Please tell Max McLean that I do my Bible study every day with his voice in the background. That makes God's word more tangible to me and more insightful. This blesses me daily. Max McLean's readings are brilliant. I was worried that I was getting another high speed reading that races through the text without reference to the message. I am delighted to say that I need not have worried. These recordings are excellent - the text really come alive! This is going on my Palm right away for listening on the way to college. I received a full set of CDs of the Bible by Max McLean as a Christmas present from my family. I find it extremely useful and well done. I spend a number of hours in my auto and to be able to listen to Mr. McLain's wonderful presentation of the Word has been a great way to redeem the time. [In response to a giveaway of surplus inventory of the NIV Bible on tape we received this response] I started to cry the first time I heard it. It's been an unbelievable help for me with the Lord.
