MP3 Download Questions

A. How do I retrieve the download I just purchased?

To retrieve your download after purchasing:

1.    Sign into your account at www.listenersbible.com using the email address and password you created when you made your purchase. (Click “Forgot password” to retrieve your password.)
2.    Click “Account” at the top of the page. You will then see a list of your previous orders.
3.    Click the “View” button next to the order you wish to access. You will be taken to the page with download links.
4.    Once your files have been downloaded, the folder must be unzipped in order to begin using the files. (The MP3 download will contain 1-4 zipped folders (depending on which product you purchase.)
5.    Create a new folder in which to transfer the zipped files so that you can easily find them.
6.    Unzip the files using the method required by your operating system.

Files can now be listened to, imported into your audio software, and synced with other devices.

To listen to a particular passage, make sure you have unzipped the folder and double-click the track which corresponds to the book and chapter in which those verses appear.

The Listener’s Bible download (once unzipped) contains many individual files. The files should appear in the folder in the order in which they appear in the Bible. If the books don’t appear in the proper order, check the sorting and labeling functions in your folder or audio software, and see our FAQ section for further assistance.

To listen to several tracks sequentially, without clicking the next track each time, bring the files into the media library of audio software like Windows Media Player, Google Play, iTunes, etc. You may need to create a playlist for sequential listening. Follow the instructions provided by your device or audio software and contact your device’s service provider with any further questions regarding this issue.

Audiobook Download Steps:

1.    Create a special folder in your computer for the files you are about to download.
2.    Download the files to the folder you have just created.
3.    Unzip or “extract” all files from the zipped folders.
4.    Open iTunes (these files are only playable using iTunes).
5.    Click “Add file to Library,” then find and open the folder containing the unzipped files.
6.    Highlight all files and click “Open.”
7.    The files should now appear, in the order in which they appear in the Bible, in the “Audiobooks” section of the “Books” library. (If the files are not in order, see “How do I get my MP3s onto my iPod in the correct order?” below.)

B. Can I download files directly to my mobile device?

Our files can be played on mobile devices and MP3 players, but must be downloaded to a computer. Files can then be transferred to your mobile device by the same process used to transfer music files or any other media content.

Files can be imported into any audio software library such as iTunes, Google Play, or Windows Media Player. Files can also be synced to any device by the same process used to transfer music files or any other media content. We are unable to provide technical support for all devices and software types. Once your files are downloaded, please contact the customer service for your device or software if you need additional assistance.

C. How do I transfer my purchased download to my smartphone, tablet, MP3 player, or other device?

Use the same process that you would to transfer music files or any other media content from your computer. Software commonly used for this purpose includes Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Google Play.

Typically, files are added to a software’s media library from the folder into which they were downloaded and then synced from the computer with the device. However, the exact process will vary depending on the device and software. We are unable to provide technical support for all devices and software types. To receive further assistance, please contact the customer service for your device or software.

D. What is the difference between the Option 1, 2, and 3 formats?

Download Options (you may download any or all of these formats after purchase):

Option 1 (64k bit rate) contains a track for each chapter of each book of the Bible. It is easiest to find specific passages with this format. This option has larger files, takes the longest to download, and has our best audio quality.

Option 2 (32k bit rate) contains a track for each book of the Bible (except longer books, which are divided into three or more tracks). This is a faster download with smaller files. This is the best choice for slower internet connections.

Option 3 (the audiobook version, NIV 1984 only) can only be used in iTunes. This contains chapter points on each track, allowing you to move forward or backward in a particular track. Option 3 has the file size and download speed of Option 1, and the audio quality of Option 2.

F. Why does my download page say I’ve exceeded my download attempts or that my download has expired?

Each file in an order has five download attempts and must be downloaded within 30 days of purchase.

This helps us prevent excessive illegal downloading, while still providing adequate time for customers to download their products. If you have not successfully downloaded the files in the provided attempts or before they are expired, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Once your download is complete, we recommend making a backup of the files in case of future file corruption or loss.

C. When I put the files onto my iPod, they are showing up in the "Music" category, instead of "Audiobooks".

To display the files as audiobooks, follow the steps below:

iTunes version 8 or higher

·         Select the whole “Album” of The Listener’s Bible.

·         Click “File” > “Get Info” > “Options.”

·         Change the “Media Kind” to “Audiobooks.”

iTunes prior to version 8

·         The file type must be changed in order for the files to appear as an audiobook.

o    Windows: Change the file extensions from .m4a to .m4b, and then play a few seconds of each track after renaming.

o    On a Mac: Change the file extensions from .m4a to .m4b, then plan a few seconds of each track. You may need to also alter the hidden type code to force iTunes to believe the file extension.
