    Mp3 Questions

  1. I am having trouble getting the files from the CD to my computer using Windows Media Player - What should I do?

    The "Ripping" area of Windows Media Player only applies to regular audio CDs (rather than CDs with MP3 files on them). As such, there are two options available to you:
    1. If you just want to list the files from the CD-ROM in your Windows Media Player "Library", you would want to use the following menu options: Tools -> Search for media -> { drop down / search box } And then choose the option in the drop-down/search for your CD-ROM drive. This would list the files on the CD in the "Library" listings of Windows Media Player for playing - but would not copy the files to your computer.
    2. If you physically want a copy of the files on your computer (instead of the CD-ROM), then you will need to hand-copy the files from the CD (in "My Computer") to the "My Music" folder. This should make the files in question automatically available in the "Library" of Windows Media Player.

  2. MP3 CD: I purchased a CD with MP3 files on it - how do I get my MP3 files to show up in iTunes?

    To import the MP3 files from your purchased product, use the following steps:

    PART I: Configuring iTunes:

    1. Open iTunes, and navigate through the following menu options:
      1. Windows:  Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced (tab) -> General (sub-tab)
      2. Mac OS:  iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced (tab) -> General (sub-tab)
    2. Check (enable) the box labeled "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library".  This will ensure that iTunes has a copy of any media file that it lists in it's library.

    PART II: Importing the MP3 files: (repeat this process for each MP3 cd that you received with your purchase)

    1. Open up iTunes on your computer
    2. Insert (one of) your Listeners Bible MP3 CDs
    3. In iTunes, choose the menu option:
      1. Windows:  File -> Add Folder to Library
      2. Mac OS:    File -> Add to Library
    4. Select the CD / DVD drive from your list of available drives
    5. Click the Open (Windows) or Choose (Mac) button

    iTunes will now proceed to copy / import the files onto your computer and into your iTunes library!

  3. MP3 Downloads: Why do I have to purchase another copy if my download has expired?

    We feel that 4 months is adequate time to ensure a valid download of your product. This is why we recommend that you make a backup of any purchased MP3 download – so that you will always be able to recover your product in the future.

  5. MP3 CD: I just bought the MP3 CD. How do I load it into my iPod?

    In order to load your new MP3 files to your iPod, first import the files into iTunes using the steps noted in the FAQ entry: "How do I get my MP3 files to show up in iTunes? ".  Once that's done, simply connect your iPod to your computer, and iTunes should automatically begin transferring the new files ("syncing") to your iPod.

    If the sync process does not automatically begin, you may manually start that process by selecting the following program menu options in iTunes:

    File -> Sync iPod

    MP3 CD and Downloads: When I put the files onto my iPod, they are showing up in the "music" category, instead of "audiobooks". How can I have them display as audiobooks?

    Apple has decided--in both iTunes and on the iPod--that a true audiobook must be in either Audible.com’s .aa format or in Apple's .m4b Protected AAC format. Anything else, and it won’t show up in the Audiobooks menu.

    To get your audiobooks to show up there, you need to trick iTunes and your iPod into thinking the files are stored in that format.

    For Windows, this is easier but more manual:

    Change the file extensions from .m4a to .m4b, and then play a few seconds of each track after renaming.

    On a Mac:

    Change the file extensions from .m4a to .m4b, then plan a few seconds of each track.
    You may need to also fiddle with the hidden type code to force iTunes to believe the file extension.

    1. Click "Tools" > "Internet Options"
    2. Click the "Privacy" tab
    3. Move the slider so that it is set on "Medium" (see below)

    4. Click "OK"
    Now you should be set to add items to your cart correctly.
