The Journey of Jesus is a storyteller’s approach to the Bible. It was designed to help young readers grasp the power of the gospel story. Each of the thirty one stories can be read aloud in about five minutes, which makes it appropriate as a devotional to read to children. But it can also be read in one sitting to help young minds grasp the wondrous majesty and humility of Jesus.

“Parents tell us that their children respond to the Listener’s Bible,”said McLean.  “I thought, what if we prepared something specifically for young minds, that they could enjoy with their parents.”

“I have often felt that the best argument for the truth of Christianity is the person of Jesus as described in the gospels. This book helps young minds to grasp the wonder of Jesus.  I believe it will generate opportunities for parents to talk deeply about Jesus and to encourage a faith commitment.”

McLean drew upon his experiences and a performer of the Bible to develop each story.  He wrote as if he were sitting around a campfire and telling an amazing adventure story.

“I am in debt to Jesse Lyman Hurlbut’s Story of the Bible for inspiring this approach,” McLean stated.  “Mark’s Gospel was the predominant source because I know that gospel so well.  Of course the birth narratives are taken from Luke and Matthew, and some of the stories unique to John were also included.”
